Meet Travis Hightower-Yoder from Stewart Richardson’s Indianapolis Office
We are excited to announce the addition of Travis Hightower-Yoder to our Indianapolis office staff! Travis joined us in December, bringing with him a diverse background in administration and caseload management from the field of higher education.
We welcome the opportunity to draw on Travis’s 15+ years of work experience to help manage many of our office functions and procedures. And we’re enjoying his great sense of humor around the office as well! Get to know Travis better by checking out our interview with him below:
What is your educational and professional background?
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from Taylor University. Professionally, I’ve been a part of many administrative task forces to create, review, or update policy and procedures for universities, and managed caseloads ranging from 300-1400 clients. I also helped develop assessment tools for capturing and measuring output and workflow, and have been involved in data analytics as well.
Tell us a little bit about your family.
I’ve been married to my wife Sara for almost three years. We moved to Indy (Irvington) just one year ago. She’s part of the administrative team at Plat Collective (a local real estate company). We are brand new owners of a Bernese Mountain Dog puppy! Personally, I have a deep love for baseball (and am a life-long fan of the Chicago Cubs). One thing I concern myself with EVERY day is when/where I will get my next good cup of coffee. Sara and my favorite thing to do together is try new restaurants around town.
What do you feel is a key strength you bring to Stewart Richardson?
I think I bring to the table a strong propensity for solving problems. I’m quite analytical and curious. So, it’s easy to concern myself with figuring out ‘how things are’ and then considering effective/realistic ways to improve it.
Also, I thrive in routine and I am comforted by organization!
What is one thing people may not know about you?
Six or seven years ago, while living in an apartment with a small concrete stoop, I decided to buy a 10” pot and plant a couple of flowers. This started a love for gardening that quickly took off. Vegetable gardening is now my favorite thing to do in my spare time at home. It’s rewarding to eat something you’ve grown. But I’m also thoroughly enchanted by the mystery of growing things!
What do you like most or find most interesting about your job?
It’s something totally new and different! It’s an invigorating challenge to change careers. I’m excited to learn all that I can about the legal world.
What made you decide to join Stewart Richardson?
A combination of two things. First, Sara and I had dreamed of moving to Indianapolis soon after we married. She started in her job at Plat a little over a year ago and that precipitated our move here. However, I was commuting over an hour to my job at Ball State University. Second, I was ready for a change. So, when the opportunity presented itself to take a role with Stewart Richardson, I jumped.
What do you like most about working with Stewart Richardson?
It’s a new challenge! I love to learn, and so the opportunity to ‘drink from the firehose’ of learning a new industry, workplace, and lexicon is quite invigorating for me every day!
Also, the team of people here have been SO welcoming to me. I have looked forward to arriving at the office everyday since I started. And I attribute much of that to the way people engage me (and each other) when I’m here.
