Jade has been a court reporter with Stewart Richardson since 2004.

She is the consummate professional with our clients – always prepared, highly skilled, and committed to nothing less than excellence,” said Tom.

About Jade Keane

Jade attended AIB College of Business in Des Moines, Iowa, majoring in court reporting and closed captioning. After graduation in 2004, she moved to Indianapolis to work for Stewart Richardson where she has been ever since!

What do you like about working as a court reporter?

I love that every day is something new. No two days are the same! And I get to meet new people all of the time from all over the United States.

What you like most about working with Stewart Richardson & Associates?

The people! My coworkers and boss are the reason why I have been with Stewart Richardson for so long. Everyone is always willing to go above and beyond for our clients and jump in and help if there’s a need.

What made you decide to join Stewart Richardson?

Tom Richardson. I met him at a job fair at the college I went to in Iowa. He was very friendly and easy to talk to which was in stark contrast to the other firm owner that was there. He convinced me to come out for an interview, and that was the first time I had ever been to Indiana. After spending some time with him, I could tell that he truly cared about his court reporters and staff and that he wanted to see me succeed as a court reporter, even if I didn’t join Stewart Richardson. I’m so happy I made the move to Indianapolis.

Tom Richardson described you as “engaging, polished, and tenacious”. What three words would you use to describe Stewart Richardson & Associates?

Integrity, experienced, top notch.

What is one interesting thing about court reporting that you don’t think many people know?

To become a certified court reporter in the U.S., you have to pass an exam at 225 words per minute, 95% accuracy or better! At the school I graduated from, we had to pass at 225 words per minute, 97% accuracy or better. Some people don’t know this, but there are several of us at Stewart Richardson who came from AIB in Iowa.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone looking to become a court reporter?

School can be tough, but the end result is worth it so stick with it. If you do freelance, you can make your own schedule and work at home in your pajamas!

What is one interesting fact about yourself?

I have been doing CrossFit for almost six months, and I love it.

What are your favorite hobbies/activities?

Spending time with my family, playing with my dogs, cheering on the Hawkeyes, working out, hiking, reading, and cooking.
